JP Morgan Private Bank has opened a dedicated wealth management branch at the Dubai International Financial Centre, regulated by the Dubai Financial Services Authority, marking a deeper push into one of the world's fastest-growing wealth hubs.

The move comes after the bank more than tripled the size of its Dubai-based private banking team over the twelve months leading up to final regulatory sign-off. Selim Elgen, UAE Market Head and Senior Executive Officer, now leads the Dubai operation, while Karim Rekik, Regional Head for the Middle East at JP Morgan Private Bank, described the region as representing "a significant and growing opportunity." DIFC Authority chief executive Arif Amiri welcomed the expansion as a reflection of Dubai's rising status as a global wealth centre.

The branch opening extends five decades of JP Morgan's presence in the UAE and mirrors a broader wave of global financial institutions deepening their footprint across the Gulf. Forecasts cited in the announcement put the UAE's net wealth at $6 trillion by 2030, growing at roughly 10.6 per cent annually. Within global rankings for generational wealth transfer, estimated at $84 trillion worldwide, Dubai placed eighth and Abu Dhabi tenth among preferred destinations.

The expansion underscores DIFC's position as the Gulf's primary gateway for international banks seeking a foothold in regional and cross-border wealth management, intensifying competition among global lenders for the region's growing pool of private capital.
