Spain's Jon Rahm moved to the top of the leaderboard at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship after carding 18 under par through three rounds at Yas Links, holding a one-shot lead. Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy sits two shots back on 16 under, with Australia's Adam Scott a further shot behind on 15 under. England's Tyrrell Hatton and Italy's Francesco Laporta are tied for third on 17 under, just one shot off the lead.

This is Rahm's first appearance at the tournament. Speaking after his third round, he said lifting the trophy on his debut would be "amazing," adding that winning again on the DP World Tour would hold special meaning for him.

For McIlroy, it is his 15th attempt at a title that has eluded him throughout his career, despite ten previous top-three finishes at the event. He picked up a two-shot penalty in the first round after a rules breach was flagged by video review, but clawed his way back with a 63 in round two and a 67 in round three. Ahead of the final round, he said he would need to shoot something in the "mid to low 60s" to get the job done.

The tight contest between Rahm and McIlroy has set up one of the most closely watched finishes on the region's golf calendar this season, as both players head into the final round at Yas Links chasing the title.
